HIVE Digital Technologies recently finalized a 100MW facility in Yguazú, Paraguay. This hydroelectric-powered site supports the firm’s global expansion and targets a full capacity of 300 MW by mid-2025.
Frank Holmes, Executive Chairman, highlighted this strategic advancement as HIVE’s major growth step. The site leverages hydroelectric power, aligning with clean energy goals and offering competitive operating margins amidst global energy shifts.
The completion provides a valuable increase in hash rate, which is informed by the addition of 7.3 EH/s, expected to reach 25 EH/s by late 2025. The project also signals a demand for sustainable power sources in mining.
Financially, the project is funded internally by HIVE, demonstrating financial agility. Holmes reported savings of $27 million, attributing cost reductions to the efficient redeployment of BUZZ Miners, enhancing capital efficiency.
The HIVE initiative strengthens Paraguay’s role in the crypto ecosystem and highlights international interest in renewable energy for blockchain operations. The mining facility’s stable USD payments to Paraguay’s power company help foster economic stability in the region.
Past hydro-backed projects suggest HIVE’s Paraguayan initiative could enhance ESG credentials, making it attractive to long-term investors. Bitcoin production rises, with expectations of reaching 12 BTC daily output, potentially impacting market supply dynamics.
